नागेन्द्रहाराय त्रिलोचनायभस्माङ्गरागाय महेश्वराय ।नित्याय शुद्धाय दिगम्बरायतस्मै नकाराय नमः शिवाय ॥
nāgendra-hārāya trilocanāyabhasmāṅga-rāgāya maheśvarāya |nityāya śuddhāya digambarāyatasmai na-kārāya namaḥ śivāya ||
अनुवाद Translation — by Om Namah Shivay
To the one who wears the king of serpents as a garland, the three-eyed, whose body is anointed with sacred ash, the Great Lord; to the eternal, the pure, the one clothed only in the directions — to him who is the syllable “Na”, salutation to Śiva.
भाष्य Explanation — our commentary, not scripture
Each of the five verses of this hymn is built around one syllable of na-maḥ-śi-vā-ya. This first verse belongs to “Na”.
Digambara — “clothed in the directions” — means Śiva needs no covering but space itself.
