Whose power has no equal, whose lordship reaches everywhere, whose very nature is said to be mastery and all-pervasion — in him, the unborn maker of all, eternal and undecaying, the great God, the great Self, in Śiva I take refuge.
These two verses follow the opening salutation of the Vāyavīya Saṃhitā. Together the three make a short prayer of refuge that can be said before any reading.
